It is with great sadness that we relay the announcement of the loss of one of our own – NRLL Board Member, coach, friend and family man Matt Colarusso has left us far too soon, passing unexpectedly earlier this week.
A staunch advocate for the kids of this town, he was adamant that we strive to deliver the best youth baseball experience for our players and families. Matt continually voiced his concepts for the direction of the league in this noble pursuit, and admirably backed them all up with action – quite demonstrably with his omnipresence at the Benevento fields helping in any manner necessary, and less-so with his constant work behind the scenes strategizing and engaging generously with our community outreach – all supremely appreciated for his care and commendable dedication to the cause.
We are all better off thanks to Matt’s boundless contributions over the past few years, and regret deeply that he will not be working so hard with us in the years to come – he did so much, always with passion.
Our hearts ache for his amazing wife Theresa and kindest boys, the pride and joys of his life – Taygen and Mason. Surely his spirit will live on in them, and his presence will continue to be felt for time immemorial down at the fields. We will all have ample opportunity to pay tribute to this outstanding teammate of ours throughout this upcoming season, but you may consider making a lasting donation in Matt's memory to support a scholarship fund in his name.
